200m School Swimming Goal

Struggling to pass the school's 200m swimming requirement?

Does your child need help to swim 200 metres, including 50 metres on their back, for school?

I offer individual swimming coaching in Stockholm for children and teenagers who want to improve their swimming skills, build confidence in the water and prepare for the school's swimming test.

The goal is simple: help your child become a safer, more confident and more capable swimmer.

Help Your Child Reach the School Swimming Goal

For some children, swimming 200 metres can feel like a huge challenge.

They may know how to swim, but struggle to:

  • Swim continuously for 200 metres

  • Swim on their back for 50 metres

  • Find an efficient swimming technique

  • Breathe comfortably while swimming

  • Keep swimming when they become tired

  • Feel confident in deeper water

  • Understand how to pace themselves

  • Stay calm during a swimming test

This is where individual coaching can make a big difference.

With one-to-one instruction, we can focus entirely on your child's individual needs and work systematically towards the goal.

What Does the 200m School Swimming Test Involve?

The Swedish school swimming requirement is commonly assessed through the ability to swim 200 metres, of which 50 metres are on the back.

The purpose is not simply to see how fast a student can swim.

Swimming ability is an important part of water safety and being able to manage yourself in the water.

That's why our training focuses not only on completing the distance, but also on developing skills that help your child feel more secure and independent in the water.

What We Work On

Every child starts from a different level, so the lesson is adapted accordingly.

Swimming technique

We identify what is making swimming difficult and work on the most important technical areas.

This may include:

  • Body position

  • Breathing

  • Arm and leg coordination

  • Stroke technique

  • Rhythm

  • Swimming efficiently

  • Reducing unnecessary effort

A better technique can make it much easier to swim longer distances without becoming exhausted.

50m Backstroke

For many students, swimming on their back is the most challenging part.

We practise:

  • Comfortable body position

  • Backstroke technique

  • Leg kick

  • Arm movement

  • Breathing and relaxation

  • Maintaining direction

  • Swimming continuously

The goal is to make backstroke feel natural and controlled rather than stressful.

Swimming 200m without stopping

Some children can swim 25 or 50 metres comfortably but struggle when the distance increases.

We gradually build their ability to swim for longer.

Instead of simply telling them to "swim more", we work on technique, pacing and efficiency so they can use their energy wisely.

Confidence in the water

A child can know how to swim and still feel nervous in deeper water or when they cannot touch the bottom.

If confidence is part of the problem, we work on this gradually and at a pace that feels manageable for the child.

The aim is to help them feel safe, calm and in control.

Individual Swimming Coaching in Stockholm

Private lessons give your child something that is difficult to achieve in a large group:

100% of the attention is on them.

I can see exactly what is happening with their swimming, identify what is holding them back and give them specific exercises to practise.

Rather than repeating the same exercises every week, we work towards a clear goal:

Swim 200 metres — including 50 metres on the back — with confidence.

Experienced Swimming Coach

My name is Una Finnman

I have many years of experience teaching swimming to children, teenagers and adults.

My coaching background includes working with swimmers at different levels — from beginners who are nervous in the water to swimmers preparing for demanding open water events.

I focus on creating a calm, encouraging environment where the swimmer understands what they are doing, why they are doing it and what they need to improve.

The aim is not simply to get through one swimming test.

It is to help your child develop swimming skills that they can feel confident using in the future.
