Open Water Swimming Coaching in Stockholm

Build confidence. Improve your technique. Swim stronger in open water.

Private 55-minute open water swimming lessons at Hellasgården (or city center) in Stockholm.

Whether you are preparing for your first swim in open water, training for Vansbrosimningen, an Ironman, a triathlon, Swimrun or another open water race, I will help you develop the skills and confidence you need to reach your goal.

Open water swimming is very different from swimming in a pool. There are no lane lines to follow, conditions can change, and skills such as sighting, swimming straight, adapting your breathing and staying calm in open water become essential.

My goal is to help you feel more confident, more efficient and more in control in the water.

Private Open Water Swimming Lessons at Hellasgården

I offer 55-minute one-to-one open water swimming sessions at Hellasgården.

The session is primarily instruction and coaching from land, where I can observe your swimming, give you immediate feedback and explain exactly what you should focus on.

When needed, I can also get in the water with you to demonstrate, support you and work on specific skills together.

Every lesson is adapted to your experience, your swimming ability and your goal.

You don't need to be an experienced open water swimmer to book a session.

What can we work on?

Your session can focus on whatever will make the biggest difference to your swimming.

Open water confidence

Is this your first time swimming in a lake or the sea?

Perhaps you feel nervous about deep water, swimming without a pool wall or not being able to see the bottom.

We can take it step by step and create a safe environment where you can build confidence and become comfortable swimming in open water.

Sighting & swimming straight

One of the most important open water skills is being able to see where you are going without disrupting your swimming technique.

I can help you learn:

  • How to sight efficiently

  • How often you need to sight

  • How to avoid zig-zagging

  • How to maintain your direction

  • How to combine sighting with your normal breathing

  • How to practise sighting without losing your rhythm

Small changes here can make a surprisingly big difference during a race.

Open water swimming technique

Your pool technique doesn't always transfer perfectly to open water.

We can work on the technical details that matter when there are no lane lines, walls or predictable conditions.

Depending on your needs, we may work on:

  • Body position

  • Breathing

  • Head position

  • Arm recovery

  • Hand entry

  • Catch and pull

  • Rhythm and stroke rate

  • Swimming efficiently in open water

  • Maintaining technique when you become tired

Breathing & staying relaxed

Many swimmers become tense when they enter open water.

You may start breathing differently, lifting your head, shortening your stroke or using much more energy than necessary.

I can help you develop strategies to stay calm, relaxed and efficient, even when the environment feels unfamiliar.

Race preparation

If you have a specific event coming up, we can make the session goal-oriented and focus on the skills that will help you perform on race day.

I coach swimmers preparing for:

Vansbrosimningen · Ironman · Triathlon · Swimrun · Open Water Races

We can work on everything from technique and pacing to sighting and race-specific skills.
